Kondai Kadalai curry / chickpea curry



 Konda kadalai curry is the chick pea masala made in tamilnadu. konda kadalai is chick pea in tamil. This curry is simple and easy to make. It goes well with rice and roti.
Requirements :
Black Chick pea – 2 cup
Shallots – 6
Dry chilly – 5
Green chilly – 2
Grated coconut – 2 tbs
Tomato – 4
Ginger – 1’’ piece
Garlic – 4 cloves
Coriander seeds – ½ tsp
Cumin – ½ tsp
Pepper – ½ tsp
Cinnamon – a stick
Cloves – 2
Aniseed – ½ tsp
Oil – 1 tbs
Curry leave – a sprig


Method :
 Soak the chick pea for ten hours and pressure cook for four whistles.
Grind shallots , cumin , pepper , tomato , ginger , garlic , coriander ,  chillies , cinnamon , cloves ,aniseeds , tomato and coconut in to a fine paste.
Heat oil in a pan , add mustard seeds and allow to splutter.
Add curry leaves and grounded masala. Stir well.
Cook the masala till the oil separates on top and raw smell of masala leaves.
Add the cooked chick pea and a cup of water.
Add required salt and allow it to cook for another ten minutes.
Kondai kadalai curry is ready to serve.
Note :
 I used black chick pea , you can use the white one.
The masala can be grounded and store in fridge.
