Arisiumparuppu sadham / Lentils rice



  Arisiumparuppu sadham is a famous one pot meal in our kongu region. This rice is made using both rice and lentils. It is easy to make with the available ingredients in home.
 Each home will be having their own preparation. I sharing our homes preparation here.
Requirements :
 Rice – 2 cup
Tuvar dhal – ½ cup
Shallots – 10
Garlic – 6 cloves
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
Dry chilly – 6
Curry leaves – a sprig
Oil – 2 tbs
 Mustard seeds – 1tsp
Cumin – 1 tsp
Pepper – 1 tsp
Tomato – 2
Asafotedia – a pinch
Salt to taste


Method :
 Soak rice and dhal together for fifteen minutes.
Heat slow cooker , pour oil , add asafotedia and mustard seeds.
When it splutters , add pepper , cumin ,chopped shallots , garlic ,split  chilly and curry leaves. Sauté well.
 Add chopped tomato and mash well.
Add turmeric powder and soaked rice .  Stir   well.
Add four cups of water and required salt.
Close the lid and cook for two whistles.
After ten minutes open the lid , mix well.
Arisiumparuppu is ready to serve,
Serve with a spoon of ghee / gingelly oil. Also can be have with curd and pickle.
