Sweet Shells

This is easy to make sweet as well as snack. My mom makes this for me and my sister during our school days. We call it as sankumittai , sanku means shell in tamil and mittai  means candy.
This is easy and can be made within 30 minutes. The requirements are also less.
Requirements :
All purpose flour / Maida – 1 cup
Butter – 1 tbs
Cooking soda- ¼ tsp
Oil – for frying
Sugar – ½ cup
Water – 1 cup
Rose essence – few drops

Method :
In a bowl , mix butter and cooking soda well. It will became frothy.
Add the flour and knead well.
If needed can add some water for kneading.
Rest the dough for 10 – 15 minutes.
Sugar syrup :
In a pan , mix sugar and water bring to boil.
Consistency of syrup must be watery. Must not dissolve in water.
Making shells :
Take a small marble size dough , press it with your thumb to flatten.

With the  fork press to make impressions.

Turn around and press inside to get the shape of shell.

Repeat this with remaining dough.

Deep fry till golden brown.

Immerse in the sugar syrup for 10 minutes.

Take out and let it dry.

Store in the air tight containers.
Delicious snack as well as sweet is ready.
