This is healthy and delicious dhal recipe. It was similar to our south Indian sambar. The difference is sambar without using sambar powder.
I additionally added garam masala for
spices flavour. It was so delicious with the rice.
Dhal is rich in protein along with the nutrients from vegetable makes it
a complete meal.

Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Garam masala – 1 tsp
Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
Asafetida – a pinch
Cumin seeds – ¼ tsp
Oil – 2 tbs
Green chillies – 2
Curry leaves – a sprig
Amchur powder ( Dry Mango Powder ) – 1 tsp
Salt as required
Method :
Wash and
cook the dhal along with the turmeric powder and garlic cloves for 2 whistles
in pressure cooker or in a vessel till the dhal is well cooked.
In a pan , heat the oil add in the mustard
seeds and let it crackle. Now , add the cumin seeds and asafetida.
Add in the chopped onion , slit green chillies ,
curry leaves and whole red chilli , sauté well till onion turns translucent.
Then , add the chopped vegetables and sauté for
few minutes.
Add little water and cook the vegetables.
Add the cooked and mashed dhal and all the dry masalas and mix well.
Add in the required salt and a cup of water.
Take off from flame and sprinkle chopped
coriander leaves.
Mixed vegetables in dhal is ready to serve.
Healthy is what I need, a break from the sinful food I eat. Lovely and simple flavors but its so good and that chili on top is drawing me closed this dhal dish.
