Dudhi means bottlegourd in hindi.
It is also known as Lauki.

Bottlegourd is a vegetable
which has more water content which aids in body eight reduction.
Bottlegourd is used in making
curry , kulambu and stirfry. It has a slight sweet taste and acquires the taste
of the masala added.
This was delicious curry , we
had it with dosa and plain rice.
Requirements :
For Gravy :
Tomato – 3
Curd – ½ cup
Ginger – 1’’ piece
Garlic – 5 cloves
Onion – 1
Green chillies – 2
Cashew nuts – 10
Chilli powder – 1 tsp
Coriander powder – ½ tsp
Cumin powder – ½ tsp
Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
Salt as required
Cumin seeds – ¼ tsp
Oil – 2 tbs
For koftas :
Grated Bottlegourd – 2 cup
Gram flour / besan flour – ½ cup or
more
Black pepper powder – ½ tsp
Ginger garlic paste – ¼ tsp
Garam masala – 1 tsp
Salt as required
Oil for frying
Method :
Making of koftas :
Squeeze the excess water out of the
grated bottlegourd. I used along with the skin.
Add this to a bowl .
Add in the gram flour , pepper
powder , garam masala and salt.
Mix well and shape into small
cylinders.
Deep fry the koftas in oil at
medium flame till golden brown.
Making of gravy:
Grind the cashewnuts, ginger,
garlic, green chillies, onion and tomatoes along with the curd to a fine paste.
Heat oil in a pan, add the cumin
seeds and let it splutter.
Add in the grounded paste and cook
for few minutes with closed lid. Keep stirring in between.
When the oil separates on top , add
in the chilli powder , coriander powder , cumin powder , turmeric powder and
required salt.
Add in a cup of water and let it
boil for few minutes.
Now , add the fried koftas and
simmer for five minute.
Duhi kofta curry is ready to serve.
Serve this with plain rice , roti
or paratha. It tastes good with dosa too.
