This is a dhal curry using mixed vegetable and
channa dhal. We south Indians use channa dhal in making kootu or in sweets like
obbatu. We call this dhal as kadalai paruppu. I didn’t taste this curry before. I made it for the first time and
liked it a lot.
This was healthy and easy to make dhal curry.
The ingredients required to make this curry will be easily available in
everyone’s home.
Requirements :
Channa dhal – ¼ cup
Brinjal – 1
Carrot – 1
Beans – 1
Bottlegourd – a small
piece
Tomato – 2
Potato – 1
Green chillies –
2
Red chilli powder
– ¼ tsp
Coriander powder –
½ tsp
Ginger – a small
piece
Salt as required
Asafetida – a pinch
Turmeric powder –
½ tsp
Oil – 1 tsp
Method :
Wash and soak the
dhal for 30 minutes.
Cook the dhal
with the turmeric powder and required water.
Wash and cut all
the vegetables.
Heat oil ina pan
, add the hing and green chillies , sauté for a minute.
Now , add the
chopped tomato , chopped ginger and vegetables and sauté for two minutes.
Add in a cup of
water and chilli powder and coriander powder and let it simmer for ten minutes.
Now, add the
cooked dhal and required salt and mix well.
If the dhal seems
more thick , add a quarter cup of water and let it simmer for few more minutes.
Chopped coriander
leaves can be sprinkled on top.
Mixed vegetables
in channa dhla gravy is ready to serve.
Serve with plain
rice or roti.
