Moong sprouts Samosa

Samosa was a popular Indian snack. It is of crispy outer layer with a spicy filling inside. Each samosa is prefixed by the filling used, like potato samosa , onion samosa , vegetable samosa ad so on.

Here , I am going to share the moong sprouts samosa.

A samosa is a fried or baked pastry with a savory filling , such as spiced potatoes , onions , peas , lentils , minced meat . the size ary , but typically, they are distinctly triangular. Samosas are often accompanied by chutney. I prefer to have it without chutney or sauce. Samosa can be baked , but I like the fried version , as it will be more crisp and tastier than the baked one.

Usually all purpose flour / maida is used to make the outer covering . Here , wheat flour is used , it tastes good and more healthy.

Requirements :
Wheat flour – 1 cup
Carom seeds – ¼ tsp
Oil – 2 tbs
Salt as required
Water
Oil for frying
For filling :
Moong sprouts – ½ cup
Potato – 1 or 2
Green chillies – 2
Garam masala – 1 tsp
Salt as required

Method :
Making of Dough :
In a bowl , mix the wheat flour , salt , carom seeds and required water and knead to a soft smooth dough.
Add the 2 tbs oil and mix well.
Let this dough rest for 15 minutes.
Making of filling :
Cook the sprouts and potato separately.
Peel the skin of the cooked potato and mash well or cut into small pieces.
In a bowl , mix the sprouts , mashed potato , salt , chopped green chilli and garam masala .
Making of samosa :
Make small round balls of the dough.

Press dough ball with the rolling pin into a thin round paratha.
Make a cut of straight line from the center to the edge like a radius in a circle.

Roll as in the picture to make a small pocket.
Fill in a spoon full of the filling and press the ends to stick together.

Repeat with the remaining dough and the filling.
Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the prepared samosas in the medium flame till golden brown.

I got about six samosas for a cup of wheat flour.

Serve hot.
Hot spicy moong sprouts samosa is ready to serve.
