This was our famous snack for each get together in our family . I made this yesterday evening for tea time. I made it into small dumplings , didn’t shape as usual vada , it was more crunchy and easy to make . In our family we make this vada for often . My mom says it is good for young girls for their growth. She makes this crunchy vada for me and my sister.
Urad dhal – 2 cup
Green chillies – 4
Ginger – ½ tsp
Crushed pepper – 1 tsp
Chopped Coriander leaves
Cumin seeds – ¼ tsp
Onion – 1
Salt as required
Oil for frying
Wash and soak the urad dhal in the water for 30 minutes.
Drain the water out and grind with out water to a soft smooth dough.
Add in the green chillies and grind together.
Add the chopped onion , crushed pepper , cumin , coriander leaves , curry leaves , required salt and mix well.
Heat oil in a pan , adda spoonful of batter at a time to make small vadas.
Deep fry till golden brown and crisp.
This same batter can be shaped into round shaped as doughnuts and deep fried.
Repeat with the remaining batter.
Urad dhal fritters is ready to serve.
I like to have it as it is.Can serve along with coconut chutney.
