SANDAVAI / IDIYAPAM / RICE STRINGS


   Sandavai   as called in kongu region. It is a festive recipe. Usually it is made when new bride or groom goes to their    in – laws homes or to other relatives homes. They usually have with banana, ghee and castor sugar / palm sugar. It can be taken with coconut milk or as fried sandavai.


Idiyaappam
Ingredients:
   Raw rice -2cups
Oil-1tsp
Salt-1tbsp
Water-based on the dough
Method:
Soak 2 cups of raw rice in water for half an hour and then drain it.
Grind into a batter of thicker consistency than idly batter.
Pour the batter into idly making plates and steam cook for 15 min.

Put this idlies in a greased idiyaappam maker and press the idiyaappams .
Ready to serve. Serve with banana / coconut milk.
