Mysorepak

Mysorepak is a famous sweet regular in most  of the south Indian homes during diwali. In our home , it was a must recipe for diwali from my childhood. My grand mom ( mom’s mother ) will make with the homemade ghee get from our cow. It was very flavourful and tasty.
I adapted my mom’s method of using vegetable oil along with the ghee
Requirements :
Besan flour – 1 cup
Sugar – 3 cup
Ghee – ½ cup
Vegetable oil – ¼ cup

Method :
Heat the pan , add about ¼ cup of ghee and roast the besan flour till the aroma comes . Take care not to burn the flour.
At this stage the flour and  ghee mixture look like crumble , keep aside.

Mix the sugar with a cup of water and bring to boil.

Check for one string consistency of the syrup.

Add the flour and stir well.

Add the ghee and oil , stir continuously in low flame .

Cook till the mixture thickens and ghee will oozes out.
Spread into the greased tray and allow to cool.
Cut into desired shape and serve.

Mysorepak is ready.
