Spicy Little Hearts


  

   Spicy little hearts – why hearts must be made sweet , why can’t it be spicy , then came these spicy little hearts. It was a spicy snack to munch on rainy days and whenever you crave to have some spicy and crunchy food.


   I made these hearts last week . Sure everyone will like it. It is easy to made with simple ingredients.

  It will be a great starter in parties. It is easy to make within 30 minutes.


Requirements :

Maida / APF – 2 cup

Semolina – 2 tbs

Oil – 1 tbs

Salt as required

For filling :

Chopped carrot – ¼ cup

Chopped beans – ¼ cup

Onion – 1

Garam masala – ½ tsp

Salt as required

Oil – 1 tsp

 For Frying :

Oil for frying

 

Method :

Mix the maida, semolina, salt, oil in a bowl.

Add about ¾ - 1 cup of water and make the dough.

Let the dough rest for fifteen minutes.

For filling :

Heat oil in a pan ,add the chopped onion and sauté well.

Now , add the finely chopped carrot and beans , sauté well for five minutes.

Close the lid and cook in low flame for two minutes.

Add required salt and garam masala.



Stir well till the raw smell leaves.

Filling is ready , let it cool.



In the mean time , press the dough as thin as chappati with the rolling pin.


With the heart cookie cutter cut into hearts.


Press the remaining dough and cut into thin long strips.

Prick the hearts with fork to avoid bulging while frying.








Place little filling on each heart and cover it with the strips in diagonal pattern intersecting each other. Press the sides well.


Heat oil in a pan , place the heart in the frying ladle and deep fry in the hot oil in medium flame .




Fry till golden brown.

Place in absorbent paper to absorb excess oil.

Fry the remaining hearts in the same way.





Spicy little hearts are ready to serve.

Serve with the tomato ketchup or sweet chutney.
