Rava ladoo is one of the famous sweet . I
love to have this ladoo without counting how many. I didn’t posted my favorite
ladoo in my ladoo , so thought of posting it but want it to be opt for this
month. Then , I planned to make it by adding beetroot which gives a purple colour
to the ladoo.
Beetroot is
also known as the table beet , garden beet or red beet. It is usually eaten
either grilled , boiled or roasted as a
cooked vegetable , or as salads.
In Indian cuisine , it is used in making curry
, stir fry or gravy.
Beetroot is a rich source of potent
antioxidants and nutrients including magnesium , sodium , potassium , vitamin C
and betaine , which is important for cardiovascular health.
Semolina / sooji as called in india . In tamil
, it is called as rava / ravai , so the ladoo is Rava Ladoo. It is the coarse
purified wheat middlings of durum wheat.
This ladoo is easy to make within few minutes
, I finished it within 15 minutes.
Requirements :
Semolina – 1 ½
cup
Sugar – ½ cup
Grated beetroot
– ½ cup
Ghee – 2 tbs
Milk – ¼ cup
Cashew – 5 +
required for garnish
Raisins – 5
Method :
Heat a tbs of
ghee in a pan , roast the cashew and raisins . keep aside.
In the same
pan , add the grated beetroot and sauté well under low flame , till the water
content is evaporated . This takes about five minutes.
Dry roast the
sooji till slightly brown.
Take off from
the flame , add the sugar , sauted beetroot ,cashew and raisins and mix well ,
when it is warm.
Add the
remaining ghee and mix well.
Add about half
of milk and mix well. If you feels the mixture is dry and not able to make
ladoos means , add the remaining milk.
Mix all
together and shape into small round ladoos.
Place a whole
cashew on each ladoo.
Let it dry for
two hours and store.
It can be
refrigerated for 3 – 5 days , not more than that.
Beet Rava
Ladoo is ready to serve.
Have a ladoo.......
I got about 15
ladoos . It may vary according to the size made.
Note :
Make ladoos
immediately after mixing , if it cools it is difficult to make.
I didn't add cardamon powder or rose essence , if needed can add. As the ladoo has the beetroot flavor , i didn't add any other flavoring.
