Idli Manchurian with Indian masala



       Idli was the common breakfast in south India . It was healthy as it was a steamed recipe . Idli was my favorite breakfast and it is good option for weight watchers.



       Today’s recipe was a snack as well as a brunch recipe. We can make this with freshly made idli or with leftover.
       It is an easy way to make kids eat idli. This is a Simple recipe with few ingredients. Everyone in our family liked it.



Requirements :
Idli – 3 (or) 4
Onion – 1 large
Capsicum – 1 small
Tomato – 2 medium
Chilli powder + coriander powder – 1 tbs
Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
Curry leaves
Oil – 1tsp
Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves chopped – 1 tbs




Method :
 Cut  each idli into small pieces.
Chop onion, capsicum and tomatoes.
Heat oil in a kadai / wok ,  add oil and let it heat.
Now , add the mustard seeds and wait till it splutters.
Add in the onion and sauté till it turns translucent.
Add in the chopped tomatoes and sauté for a minute.
Add the chilli and coriander powder  , turmeric powder and salt , mix well.


Add in chopped capsicum and mix once.


When  the tomatoes are mashed well , add the chopped idlies and mix well for two minutes.
Take off from flame and sprinkle chopped coriander leaves.



Idli Manchurian is ready to serve.

Muttai dosa / Egg with crushed pepper



 This was the omelette or dosa during our childhood days. It is simple and easy to make recipe with egg. It needs only few ingredients. It is my favorite of all egg recipes.
 As we are using pepper powder, it is good to young children  It is easy to make within minutes. Me and my sister call it as muttai dosa , so named the recipe so.

Requirements :
Egg – 1
Oil – 1 tsp
Pepper powder – 1 tsp
Salt – a pinch
Method :
Heat a griddle, reduce to medium flame.
Add  half teaspoon of oil and spread it fully on the griddle/ tava.
Crackle the egg and add on the hot griddle.
Add the remaining oil , surrounding the egg.
Sprinkle the pepper powder and salt.
Let it cook, flip to other side and cook on both sides.
Muttai dosai is ready to serve.

I will have it as it is.
It can also be served along with rasam rice  or with any non vegetarian gravies.
Note :
If you want to have half boiled egg , don't turn over to other side.

Cucumber raita / Cucumber Yogurt Dip



 Raita was the yogut based dip , served along with spicy foods like briyani , pulov or stuffed paratha or even with plain roti .My mom makes raitas when she has no time to make any sidedish .We like to raita with plain roti too. Raita was a common sidedish in our family .

 The recipe I am sharing today is the cucumber raita , it is the dip made by using grated cucumber with the yogurt.
 Cucumber is rich in water content which avoids dehydration and helps in acting as a body coolant.
I like to have with raita with plain roti.


Requirements :
Grated cucumber – ¼ cup
Curd – 1 cup
Salt to taste
Sugar – ¼ tsp
Chilli powder – 1 tsp
Cumin powder – a pinch
Method :
Mix the chilli powder , cumin powder , salt and sugar with the yogurt.
Add in the grated cucumber and mix well.
Sprinkle a pinch of  chilli powder and cumin powder on top.
Serve chill or at room temperature.

Cucumber raita is ready to serve.

Boondhi Raita / Spicy Yogurt Dip



Raita is a dip made with yogurt mix with vegetables or fruits or crispy snacks like boondhi. Boondhi raita is one of the famous raitas.

  Boondhi is nothing but the crispy small round balls made with the gram flour batter. It is used in making ladoo when made without using chilli powder.
  The boondhi used in making raita is made by mixing gram flour, salt, and chilli powder and fried in hot oil. It is used in south Indian snack.

  This was different from what I make .

Requirements :
Homemade Boondhi – ¾  cup
Yogurt – 1 cup
Salt to taste
Sugar – ¼ tsp
Cumin powder – ¼ tsp
Chilli powder – ¼ tsp
Pepper powder – ¼ tsp

Method :
Soak the boondhi in a cup of warm water for 5 – 10 minutes.
Take out and squeeze out the excess water.
Whisk the curd well.
Add in the salt , sugar , chilli powder , cumin powder and pepper powder , mix well.
Add in the soaked boondhi and mix once and serve.

Chopped coriander leaves can be sprinkled on top . I placed a sprig of mint leaves.
Boondhi Raita is ready to serve.


Note :
store bought boondhi can be used in the raita.

Mango Raita



Raita is an Indian , Pakistani and Bangladeshi condiment made with yogurt and used as a sauce or dip. The yogurt may be seasoned with coriander , cumin , mint , pepper and other herbs and spices.









There are many types of raita made of using vegetables , fruits and greens. It is served along with the Briyani , pulov or with kebab. Yogurt is considered to be good for digestion. Here , mango is used in making this raita. Mango fruit pulp is a good source of vitamin A , C , B6 , folate and potassium, copper and aminoacids.

 This was a sweet raita , I made it for Meena aunty’s Try my recipes and giveaway event.
 This raita was simple uses only four ingredients.

Requirements :
Mango – 1
Curd – 1 cup
Sugar – 2 tsp
Cardamom powder –a pinch

 Method :
 Whisk the curd till it is smooth.
 Peel out the skin of the mango and chop the pulp into fine  pieces.
Add the mango pulp , sugar and cardamom powder , mix well.
 Refrigerate for ten minutes and serve.
Mango Raita is ready to serve.

Serve along with spicy Briyani / pulov.

Carrot Sticks Stirfry





                                                                                  This was a simple and easy to make carrot stir fry recipes. In this instead of using grated carrot , carrot sticks or Juvenile cut carrot is used to make this stir fry. It tastes different from the usual recipe . This was another delicious curry which was my favorite from my mom's cooking.



 In this carrot is chopped into thin stick like pieces , so I named it as carrot sticks stir fry.





Requirements :
Carrot – 4
Green chilly – 3 – 4
Oil – 1 tsp
Mustard seeds – ¼ tsp
Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
Salt as required
Sugar – 1 tbs
Besan / Gram flour – 1 – 2 tbs








Method :
Chop the carrot into thin long sticks.
Heat oil in a pan , add the mustard seeds and let it splutter.
Add in the slit green chilles and sauté once.
Add the chopped carrot and stir well.

Add the required salt , sugar and turmeric powder , mix well.
Sprinkle little water , cover with a lid and cook in medium flame.
When the carrot pieces are cooked , add the besan flour and stir well.
Take off from flame and serve.

Carrot sticks stir fry is ready to serve.

Serve with plain rice , roti or puri. we had it with steaming plain rice.

Bread Pizza








    Pizza will be everyone’s favorite. Though it contains more cheese which was not good for health , no one will say no to have this delicious Pizza.


 If we make in home , we can use less cheese according to our need. Today , I am sharing the recipe of the bread pizza. This pizza uses bread as the base and we can top it with any topping of our desire.








Requirements :
Bread slices
Cheese slices
Chopped capsicum
Chopped tomato
Chopped onion
Pizza sauce / Tomato sauce
Garam masala
Salt to taste
Butter

Method :
Spread the butter on both side of the bread slices.
Apply the pizza sauce on top .
Sprinkle the chopped capsicum , chopped tomato and chopped onion on top.
Sprinkle the grated cheese on top.
Sprinkle a pinch of salt and garam masala on top.
Italian seasonings can be used.
I grilled on stove top using the tava.
Heat the tava and reduce the flame to medium, place the bread slice and cover with a lid. Let it cook for two minutes.

Bread pizza is ready to serve.
