In our family , diwali sweets will be
laddu and mysorepak. Our grandmom
usually make mysorepak with fresh homemade
ghee. Nowadays we are missing those sweets as we can’t get those sweets. We are
making these sweets with store bought ghee , those taste is not similar to our
grandmom’s sweets.
Makes – 100 Ladoo
Requirements :
Besan flour – 1 kg
Cooking soda – ¼ tsp
Water – 3 cup
Yellow Food color
( optional )
Oil for frying
Sugar syrup :
Sugar – 2 kg
Water – 2 ½ cup
Cardamom powder – 1 tbs
Rose water – 5 drops
Cashew – 20
Raisins – 30
Cloves – 20
Camphor – a
pinch
Jathikkai / Nutmeg - 1 small
Ghee – 1 tsp
Method :
Besan flour
can be storebought or homemade.
My mom
usually makes with Homemade Gram flour . She says it tastes better than store
bought besan flour.

usually wash the split channa dhal ( kadalaparuppu ) , let it dry and grind in
flour mill.
Mix the besan flour , cooking soda and water to a
smooth batter of dosa batter consistency.
Small boondhis will fall into hot oil.
Make boondhis of all the batter.
In the mean time , mix the sugar and water and bring
to boil.
Melt the ghee and fry cashew and raisins.
In the same ghee fry the nutmeg and cloves , crush
into powder.
When the sugar syrup reaches one string consistency
, take off from flame.
Add the cashew
, raisins , powdered nutmeg and cloves. Add in the camphor and mix well.
Mix well and let it cool down a little.
Boondhi ladoos are ready to serve.
