Plantain stem Rice / Valaithandu sadham


                           

 Plantain stem is good for our health . It is said that it aids in weight loss. I tried this rice preparation for today's lunch , it tasted great. It is simple and healthy.
Requirements :
Cooked rice – 2 cup
Chopped plantain stem –  ½  cup
Oil – 1 tsp
Cumin seeds – ¼ tsp
Onion  - 1
Green chilly – 4
Garlic – 4 cloves
Ginger ( chopped) – 1 tsp
Curry leave – a sprig
Salt as required

Method :
 Heat oil in a pan , add the cumin seeds and wait till it splutters.
Add the chopped onion and sauté till translucent.
Add the chopped chilly , ginger and garlic , sauté for a minute.

Add the curry leaves and the finely chopped plantain stem , sauté for a minute.

Add the required salt and let it cook for five minutes.

Add the cooked rice and mix well.

Reduce the flame to medium and stir continuously  for five minutes.

Plantain stem rice is ready to serve.

note :
 soak the plantain stem in buttermilk to avoid darkening.
