This is easy to make sweet as well as snack.
My mom makes this for me and my sister during our school days. We call it as
sankumittai , sanku means shell in tamil and mittai means candy.
This is easy and can be made within 30
minutes. The requirements are also less.
Requirements :
All purpose flour / Maida
– 1 cup
Butter – 1 tbs
Cooking soda- ¼ tsp
Oil – for frying
Sugar – ½ cup
Water – 1 cup
Method :
In a bowl , mix butter and
cooking soda well. It will became frothy.
Add the flour and knead
well.
If needed can add some
water for kneading.
Rest the dough for 10 – 15
minutes.
Sugar syrup :
In a pan , mix sugar and water bring to
boil.
Consistency of syrup must
be watery. Must not dissolve in water.
Making shells :
Immerse in the sugar syrup
for 10 minutes.
Store in the air tight
containers.
Delicious snack as well as
sweet is ready.
