Chilas are gram flour pancakes which
originated in Rajasthan , these are sold in chaat shops. This recipe is of mini
pancakes tossed in a blend of delectable chutneys.
This chaat is easy to make within 15 minutes
when all the ingredients are ready.
As gram flour is rich in protein , it is
suitable for young childrens too.
Requirements :
For chilas :
Bengal gram flour ( Besan
flour ) – 1 cup
Asafetida – a pinch
Chilli powder – 1 tsp
Salt as required
For Tempering :
Oil – 1 tbs
Onion – 3 tbs
Sweet chutney – 4 tbs
Green chutney – 4 tbs
For serving :
Coriander leaves
Pomegranate
chopped Tomato
Method :
Making of chilas :
Mix the gram flour , asafetida
, chilli powder and salt along with enough water to make a thin batter of dosa batter
consistency.
Put about ½ tsp of the
batter on a heated griddle and cook with a little oil to make small chilas of
about 12 mm ( ½’’) diameter.
Cook each chila on both
sides until golden brown.
The above mentioned
measurement makes about 50 chilas.
Tempering :
Heat oil , add the onion and sauté well.
Add the cooked chilas ,
chutney , salt and toss for five
minutes.
Serving :
Add the tossed chilas to
serving plate and sprinkle Chopped tomato , Pomegranate and coriander leaves and serve.
