Crescent Rolls #BreadBakers

For this month’s bread bakers Deepti of Baking yummies gave us the theme to  make any Rolls. I choose to make these crescent rolls as these are easy to make and I  baked it on the day of deadline to include our bread in the link.

A roll is a small , often round loaf of bread served as a meal accompaniment . A roll can be eaten whole or cut into half and served with a filling in between the halves.

We like to have bread rolls or buns as snack along with tea. It is a common snack sold in shops as a accompaniment with tea , mostly sweet buns.
Crescent rolls resembles croissants in shape but were more dense than them.

The making was these rolls are easy even kids can help in shaping the rolls. It may be fun time for the kids.

Requirements :

3 cup flour

2 ½ tsp Active dry Yeast

¼ cup sugar  + Sprinkling

1 tsp salt

1 ½ cup Milk

2 tbs Butter

Method :

In a bowl , add the flour , sugar , salt and yeast , mix together .

Warm the milk and Pour into the flour mixture along with the butter. Mix well with a wooden spatula.

Empty the contents into the counter top and knead well for 5 – 10 minutes or till the dough becomes soft and smooth.

Place the dough in an oiled bowl and cover with cloth or cling wrap. Let it double in size , it may take about 1 ½ to 2 hour.

Punch the raised dough and divide into two equal parts.

Roll one part into a circle of 12 inch on the lightly floured surface . Butter / Jam / Nutella can be applied on the circle at this stage. I kept as plain.

Cut the circle into 12 wedges with a pizza cutter or knife.

Roll the triangles into crescents starting at the wider end towards the sharp end. Repeat with the whole dough.

Place the rolled crescents on the baking tray and cover with a cloth , allow for second rise of about half an hour.

Brush each rolls with milk and sprinkle sugar on top.

Bake in a preheated oven for 15 – 20  minutes @ 200*C or until the rolls turn golden brown.

Let the rolls cool for ten minutes and serve.

Serve along with jam , nutella , soup  or any spicy curry.
