Coconut chutney



  Coconut chutney is a must side dish in many south Indian homes .  Each  will have their own preparation. I sharing how it is made in our home.
Requirements :
Grated coconut – 1 cup
Roasted bengal gram – ¼ cup
Green chilli / dry chilli  – 5
Curry leaves – 1 sprig
Coriander leaves – 1 tsp
Shallot – 1
Garlic- 1 -2 clove
Ginger – 1 “ piece
Salt to taste
For tempering:
 Oil / ghee – 1 tsp
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Curry leaves
Asafotedia – a pinch

Method :
   Grind coconut, gram dhal , ginger , chili , garlic , shallot  , coriander leaves , curry leaves along with half a cup of water into a smooth paste.
 Add required salt.
 Heat ghee in a pan , add asafotedia , mustard seeds and curry leaves.
Add this tempering to the chutney.
It will be best combo with idly , dosa , chappati.
